Brians Winter

In Brians Winter, Brian Robeson a 13-year-old boy stranded in the Canadian Wilderness. Learning how to survive on his own. He makes himself a home to sleep and eat. He hunts for food using the tools that he made. He used bow arrows to hunt his dinner and his knife to skin them. Plus it is winter and his clothes are ripped up almost. His clothing is bad. He uses rabbits skin and deerskin for clothing. He makes snowshoes to walk around in the snow. One last thing he is stranded for 94 days all alone.

What I liked about this story is that it is descriptive; when he kills the moose and skins it. Also when he learns how to make bow arrows, snow shoes. I like this book because it keeps you hanging at the end of each chapter. What I liked about is that you can imagine all the things that Brian does in the wilderness. What I didnt like about the book is sometimes there is nothing going on and it is boring. What I didnt like about the book is when he describes in details when he skins the moose. He is very descriptive then.
The genre of this book is Realistic Fiction. I would probably give it from a scale of 1-5, a four. I like the book, but parts of it was boring. Also some parts you can easily misunderstand. Some parts you can imagine how he feels, just the way he talks. Also when he acts you can understand, why acts that way. All in all I liked this book; I really enjoyed reading this book.

Brians Survival

A young teenager named Brian Robenson was stranded in Canadas wilderness from a plane crash that he survived. Brian only had a few pieces of equipment to use to survive. Brian had many downfalls in his adventure but somehow he survived living on moose, deer, rabbits, and any other prey he can hunt down. During Brians Winter Brian learned about many skills he didnt know he had. Youd be surprised by how Brian survived on his small equipment. Through these 94 days in the wilderness. Brian has learned a new way of life that is hard to survive in and to not give up still thinking there is something out there to live for (his father or his mother).

Brians Winter is a very interesting book I recommend to everyone that likes survival books and all that good stuff. Survival books are very interesting like this one but this book is part of a survival series. Other books that Gary Paulson has written that go along with this book are Hatchet, The River. If you like reading books that where the characters in the story dont quit and just keep trying hard then you will definitely like this book, I guarantee it. Before my teacher introduced me to this book I never heard of it before. When I read the first few chapters I got addicted to the story that is why I believe that anyone would like it.

This was a great book. I loved that we were able to find out about Brian after the summer. Gary Paulsen responded well to his readers comments.
