Loved It Myself!
I agree with Deborah Wileys suggestion not to read all 4 stories in this anthology back to back. However thats really my only issue with this book, and Im usually not a fan of anthologies!
lt;br /gt;
lt;br /gt;Santa Claws- The first story in the book really grabs your attention. Alec has come over from Scotland as the head of the largest den of werewolves in Europe to toast Michael Wyndhams daughter, "The Wonder Child". If youve read Ms. Davidsons other Wyndham Werewolf stories youll already be set to understand the background story. However this and the next following 2 stories due work without having read the earlier Wyndham tales. Moping on his way back to his plane Alec smells the most intoxicating scent- which turns out to be female Salvation Army Santa Clause worker Giselle Smith. The pair spends a rollacoaster day and hot night together before Giselle admits that shes the one for him.
lt;br /gt;
lt;br /gt;Monster Love- The second and I felt best story of the 4. Janet is a werewolf in the Wyndham pack who acts like she has permanent PMS. On her way from Alecs wedding she is "saved" from a mugging by Vampire, Richard. She promptly beats him up for thinking she cant take care of herself. Richard thinks they would make an adorable Dick and Jane together. Shes very aggressive. He reminds me of an undead Hugh Grant. He kidnaps her and wont believe werewolves exist even though hes a vamp!
lt;br /gt;
lt;br /gt;Theres No Such Thing As A Werewolf- I didnt really get the title here but whatever. This was still a good story but it was the weakest of the four. It was probably saved from itself by the reappearnce of Janet and Richard from the last story. They come in to play after the main couple of Dr. Drake, blind werewolf, and Cresent( you find out what she is at the end of the story) get together. Even though hes blind when Drake meets Cresent he can see her. This makes the rest of the story confusing since youre not sure what he can and cant see. And how does he know that her eyes are the color blue? If you grew up blind you wouldnt be able to relate the color to the word. My only critisizm, I promise.
lt;br /gt;
lt;br /gt;A Fiend in Need- Bringing the Wyndham Werewolves together with her Undead series. Antonia( well remembered as the were fortune teller from Deriks Bane) travels to see Queen Betsy of the vampires when a vision tells her thats the only way shell ever get what she wants out of life. There she saves Dr. Marks life, stuns, Sinclair, makes pals with Betsy and Jessica, and most importantly fills in the blanks of Garrett Sheas ( a.k.a George) life. By drinking her blood he regains large pieces of himself. I thought a romance between an extremely strong willed female and a vampire feind who lives in the basement and plays with yarn like a big cat would be a little far fetched. But MJD pulls it off, giving George some of the most simplistic but moving commentary on love.
lt;br /gt;
lt;br /gt;Over all for a good time this book, for me, was a definite keeper. Some people have critisized the love scenes: I thought they were hot! Plus theres usually more to a good story than just the sex. Pick this one up!

DEAD AND LOVING IT, NOT QUITE....
THIS WAS NOT THE MARY JANICE DAVIDSON I WAS EXPECTING....I DIDNT KNOW THESE FIRST 3 STORIES WERE "E" RELEASED AND WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THEM. THEY STILL HAD SOME OF THE WIT I EXPECTED, BUT EXCUSE ME, THE USE OF A COUPLE OF "C" WORDS THAT BELONG IN PORN, DID NOT IMPRESS ME. MY THOUGHT WAS HERE WE GO AGAIN, LAURELL K HAMILTONish SYNDROME...ANOTHER AUTHOR THAT I USE TO REALLY ENJOY BEFORE SHE WEIRDED OUT ON NO PLOT AND LOTS AND LOTS OF BANGING ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT MOVES......

Classic MJ
The first three stories in this anthology are re-released E-Books from Elloras Cave (an Erotic Romance Publisher)and pre-date UU by several years. Being EC releases, they had to provide a required amount of sex, nuff said. They are quite similar in plot/action, but MJs strength has always been in her characters and dialog.
lt;br /gt;That aside, the vamp/were mythos of the first 3 dont quite mesh with the Betsyverse they pre-date.
lt;br /gt;The last story is new and a does integrate the rules shes written for both verses. It will be interesting to see if she continues to have these two universes interact.
